Our Birthday Weekend in SLC
My mom was able to reserve Neal and I a room at the City Creek Marriot in downtown Salt Lake City, UT for our birthdays. It was fantastic! Our room overlooked the Angel Moroni on top of the SLC temple. We drove down from Rexburg, ID on Friday (6/15) after classes ended for the day. We spent that evening with Neal's "adopted" family, the Marx's. On Saturday (6/16) we attended the chapel session in the temple that Neal's mission president (who is now in the SLC temple presidency) spoke at. Afterwards we were given a private tour through the temple. It was amazing! I wish that I could have taken some pictures! After we went to the temple we ate lunch at the Olive Garden down the street from our hotel.
After lunch, we walked around the new City Creek mall and dreamed about all of the shopping we (okay, I) could do if we had the money. After window shopping Neal surprised me with a carriage ride around temple square. It was so much fun!
For dinner, we went to Ruth's Chris Steak House. It was amazing! The food was incredible and because we were celebrating both of our birthdays, they gave us two free desserts!
On Sunday (6/17) we ate breakfast at Mimi's Cafe and then started the 3 hour drive back up to Rexburg, ID. We made a quick stop at the Hill Air Force Base Museum and checked out some pretty cool jets. (Our cameras died right after this picture was taken...)
